Camping & Outdoor Skills

"To anyone who hasn't tried Scouting before, I'd say come on up and have a go! I think that most people don't really know that Scouting is about activities, friendship and meeting people from other countries. I've been in the Movement since I was a Beaver and I still love it!"

If the Explorers want to camp using a youth hostel, a bunk house, a mountain bothy, a plush campsite, a scout activity centre, a mountain summit or even a remote moor - we do it! If the Explorers want to stay in the UK or go abroad, stay local or go to Scotland - we do it! If the Explorers want to set up a base camp and live with a few home comforts, or camp backwoods learning how to live off the land and build shelters (Bushcraft) - we do it!

Better still we'll show Explorers how to do it for themselves!
At Doghouse ESU we want to give Explorer Scouts the skills to do it for themselves, then leave them to it and see what they come up with. But why? Simple... they will learn by doing, taking responsibility, working in teams, understanding and taking acceptable risks plus thinking for themselves. No matter where you are... whether you're in the work place, at university, at college, in the armed forces or on a gap year - these are skills for life and can put an Explorer Scout ahead of the rest when applying for university places or employment.
