About the Unit
Doghouse Explorer Scout Unit is a bit different to the majority of other Explorer Units across the Country in the fact that it has
chosen to specialise itself as a Mountain Activity Unit – meaning its main focus is to offer outdoor mountaineering experiences and
teach the necessary skills required in this area.
The Unit leaders recognise that Explorers will be busy in their GCSE or AS/A2 years Doghouse doesn’t meet weekly unlike traditional Units –
we only meet when we are on an activity, or at interim meetings every couple of months or so for planning and admin purposes. Instead, the Unit operates from its secure members-only website which
is covered in more detail on the next page, and the majority of activity planning and communication is done through the website.
